(7 Jun 2016) Muslims across Pakistan on Tuesday observed the first day of the holy month of Ramadan with piety and religious fervour.
In the southern port city of Karachi, the faithful thronged to local markets and shopping areas to get special food items that are extremely popular at Iftar - the meal that Muslims have at sunset to break the daily fast.
Thousands of Muslims gathered in mosques all across the city to collectively break the fast and offer Maghrib (sunset) prayers.
At the Memon Mosque in Karachi's downtown area, the administration arranged for free Iftar meals, with the rich and the poor sharing the offerings.
